Work on the part that has to be right.
Aplark is early. The work is assurance infrastructure for systems where failure is physical, and most of it is unglamorous, precise and permanent — the kind of code that is still being verified against in fifteen years.
What we are looking for
People who are comfortable being told their evidence is insufficient, and who would rather find that out on day one than in a certification review. The product is built around saying no clearly; the team has to be too.
Depth in one of: statistical sufficiency and experiment design, safety engineering and hazard analysis, applied cryptography and transparency logs, deterministic execution and reproducibility, or certification practice in a regulated sector.
Certification authority practice
Someone who has sat on the authority side of a certification review — CEMILAC, RCMA, DGAQA or an equivalent — and can tell us which dossier structures survive scrutiny and which waste everyone’s time. This is the highest-leverage hire in the programme.
Statistical sufficiency
Effective sample size under correlation, exposure weighting, and the honest translation of a residual rate into a sample count. The person who owns the arithmetic the entire product rests on.
Evidence integrity
Append-only transparency logs, canonical serialisation, signing chains and offline verification. Work where the correctness bar is "a hostile reviewer with a decade to look at it".
Deterministic execution
Making machine learning workloads replay to a classified reproducibility level on real hardware, and diagnosing honestly when they do not.
Product engineering
Interfaces for safety engineers and certification leads, operable on a hardened workstation at 1366×768 with no GPU acceleration, that print correctly into a review pack.
What this is not
It is not a research role. The open problems here are real, but the deliverable is a product a certification authority accepts, not a paper.
It is not remote-first in the usual sense. Parts of this work happen on air-gapped hardware in controlled facilities.
It is not fast-moving in the consumer sense. Schema decisions made now are embedded in signed records that must verify in thirty years.
